This morning I got completely lost trying to find my way back from my house to the kitchen area. We arrived in the dark last night and I was completely disoriented once it was daylight. This is a pretty big property and there are probably about 50 earth homes. Once I finally found my way to the kitchen I ate breakfast and was given the task of sorting seeds, which is what I ended up doing all day. It was actually pretty nice because with the heat you just don’t want to have to do anything strenuous. So I listened to music and sorted seeds happily. They are really struggling with the drought here so we are really limited on water use. There is filtered water for drinking but the rest of the water smells really bad because it’s coming from what’s left in the bottom of their reservoir pond. In the evenings they drive to the canals to swim and bathe but I missed going with them and was told I could take a short shower if I wanted. However the water smelt awful and I don’t think I really got clean. There is a café here and they have cold drinks so it’s really nice to have that available during the heat of the day. They told me tomorrow I can help them with a house they are building for the Scottish woman, Lisa, and her family. Their home was too small so they tore it down to making it bigger now that their kids are getting older. She has a daughter who is 8 and a son who is probably about 13. Her daughter is really precious; the mixture of Thai and Scottish decent is just so sweet. She has the prettiest eyes and the sweetest smile and is very grown up for her age. Her son is cute too, and it’s funny hearing him talk because he looks more Thai than white yet he has a bit of a Scottish accent that throws you off a little. The two of them get along really well. I am enjoying being around so many happy kids.
